Many funded PhD opportunities never appear on a page labelled “scholarships.” A systematic search therefore needs several official university and research recruitment routes.
Search graduate funding pages
Start with the university’s doctoral school, graduate school, scholarships and research-degree funding pages. These are useful for institution-wide awards and recurring studentships.
Search university jobs systems
Look for “doctoral researcher,” “PhD candidate,” “doctoral candidate,” “research assistant,” “early-stage researcher” and similar terms. In many countries these are employment vacancies.
Check departments and research centres
Project-funded doctoral positions may first appear on a laboratory, department, centre or principal investigator page. Confirm that the final application still goes through an official institutional route.
Use external portals as discovery tools
Research-opportunity portals can help you find a lead quickly, but open the official university or research-institute page before relying on the salary, deadline, eligibility or application instructions.
Track recurring sources
Strong institutions recruit repeatedly. Save the official jobs, doctoral funding and scholarship pages and recheck them rather than searching the entire web from zero each time.
