A scholarship interview usually tests evidence, judgement and programme fit rather than how many prepared sentences you can memorise.
Re-read your submitted application
Interviewers may ask about claims, dates, leadership examples or plans from your own application. Use the exact submitted version, not a later draft.
Know the programme
Review the scholarship’s objectives, funding conditions, study route and obligations. Be ready to explain why this programme is appropriate rather than simply prestigious.
Prepare evidence examples
For leadership, teamwork, failure, conflict and impact questions, prepare real examples with context, your actions and the result. Avoid examples where your personal contribution is unclear.
Defend your study and career plan
Explain what you intend to learn, why the selected field or institution matters, and how the training connects to a realistic future role or research agenda.
Practise without scripting
Use timed mock questions and practise answering in different wording. Memorising paragraphs can make an answer collapse when the interviewer asks a follow-up question.
Prepare practical details
Test the interview link, microphone, camera, internet connection, identification requirements and timezone in advance. Keep the official invitation accessible during the session.
